What is the Glasgow Conference Ambassador Programme?

The Glasgow Conference Ambassador Programme provides support to individuals who influence their professional associations and groups to meet in Glasgow. The programme is open to anyone who is interested in attracting a national or international meeting to the city.

 

Could I become an Ambassador?
Yes, if you are involved in a professional association or group and are keen to invite that group to meet here in Glasgow.

 

What is expected of me if I choose to become an Ambassador?
You will work in partnership with our conventions team at Glasgow City Marketing Bureau in an effort to bring a future conference toGlasgow. You can choose to be as involved in the programme as you wish, and you are not obliged to take on any additional responsibilities in your role as Ambassador beyond the requirements of the conference which you are bidding to attract to the city.

 

What support is offered?
We provide free and dedicated conference support services for Glasgow Conference Ambassadors, from bid stage through to the conference taking place in the city. For a more detailed overview of the services offered, pleased visit our Free Support section.

 

Will it cost me anything to become an Ambassador?
No, all of the services provided to support our local ambassadors are offered free of charge.

 

What are the main benefits of becoming a conference Ambassador?
Becoming a conference ambassador will allow you to raise the profile of your research amongst your peers, both nationally and internationally, as well as establishing a platform for research projects and international collaboration. Conferences can furthermore boost the image of your institution and the region as a whole, and make a significant contribution to the city's economy. As an ambassador you will be invited to attend regular networking events with your fellow ambassadors, receive regular newsletters on what is happening around the city and where appropriate receive acclaim for and exposure for your work.
